You Don’t Have to Have It All Together

It’s naive to think anyone truly has it all together. Yet when we’re constantly bombarded by social media’s carefully curated highlight reels and polished facades, it’s easy for our brains to get tricked into believing that everyone else has life figured out except us.
Can I be vulnerable with you for a moment?
I’m a Life Coach… and I don’t have it all together. Yes, I help others find clarity, strength, and purpose, but I also have moments when I need help myself. I struggle too.
I can’t imagine I’m the only one in a profession that often implies you must have all your ducks in a row. It’s like the teacher whose child can’t read, the doctor who’s stressed or unhealthy, the nurse who smokes, the mental health counselor who’s struggling silently, or the soldier who fights for freedom but fears seeking help.
Does that make them less effective? Absolutely not. It makes them human.
And in our humanity, we struggle, but we still show up for others.
When “Feeling Like a Failure” Hits
Today, I woke up feeling like a failure. Notice I said feeling, not believing I am one. Feelings can be deceptive, can’t they?
But as I stared at the mountain of laundry, the messy house, the empty fridge, the unfinished business projects, and heard an ungrateful comment from my nine-year-old (hello! peri-menopause emotions 😅), I felt myself slipping over the edge.
Motherhood, though sacred, can often feel like the most unappreciated job on the planet. We give so much of ourselves, often unseen. From packing healthy lunches to writing little notes in lunchboxes, to keeping the home running smoothly, it’s easy to wonder if anyone really notices.
Then, in the middle of my tears and self-pity, something beautiful happened. My oldest son, who’s twenty, walked into my room, wrapped his arms around me, and thanked me for all I’ve done for him.
(Cue more tears)
It felt like God came down from heaven at that very moment and whispered, “I see you.” A sweet reminder that what I do matters, even the small, mundane things.
You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Make an Impact
Will Guidara once stated,
“It may not be possible to do everything perfectly, but it is possible to do many things perfectly.”
That resonated deeply with me.
Because, it is possible to not have it all together and still make a difference. It’s possible to be imperfectly perfect and imperfectly worthy.
So, if you’re looking for a coach who has it all together, unfortunately, that’s not me. But if you want a coach who is authentic, who understands struggle, who shows up no matter what, and who offers empathy, insight, and perspective, then I’m your gal.
You don’t need perfection to lead, love, or live with purpose. You just need honesty, humility, authenticity and heart.
And maybe, a reminder, like I got today, that you are doing better than you think.
You’re not just a mom, caregiver, wife…. Because Identity is not found in what you do, it’s found in your design.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”- Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
